Abstract:We study the antibiotic resistance of Escherichia coli in Dalian Xinghai Bathing Beach.36 strains were screened from seawater using membrane filter and used for further identification.Biochemical method and PCR method confirmed 8 of 36 strains were Escherichia coli.Antibiotic resistance of E.coli to 12 common-used antibiotics were measured using K-B paper test. All tested E.coli showed antibiotic resistance and resistant rates is over 50% to 10 of 12 antibiotics. The resistant rates of E.coli to rifampicin, chloramphenicol and Compound sulfamethoxazole is 100%,25%and 37.5%,respectively.All isolated E.coli were identified as multiple-resistant strains,87.5% of E.coli occurred resistant to more than 3 antibiotics. These results suggest the multiple-resistance of E.coli is severe in Dalian Xinghai Bathing Beach.
