Study on value assessment of rare and endangered species in marine reserve: a case of the Xiamen rare marine species national nature reserve

Abstract:Evaluating the ecosystem service value of marine reserve reasonably is a difficult problem in the research of ecosystem service value compensation.Taking Xiamen rare marine species national nature reserve as an example,this research elected contingent valuation methods to study the value of marine preserve.At first,questionnaire was designed to acquire people's willingness to pay for rare species and its environmental resources.Based on the questionnaire data,the value of Chinese white dolphin (Sousa chinensis),amphioxus and egret were estimated at 2.629 billion,1.973 billion and 2.219 billion Yuan per year.This research is a useful attempt to evaluate the ecosystem service value of marine reserve and lays a foundation for establishing ecological compensation standard of marine reserve.
