Review of storm surge disaster monitoring and early warning in China's coastal areas

In recent years,storm surge disasters have become a main constraint of the economic and social development in China's coastal areas.This paper summarizes the progress of storm surge disasters both at home and abroad from five aspects,namely simulation prediction technique,the mechanisms,loss assessments,monitoring and early warning,and loss contingency management and forecasting.The limitation is revealed and the future research trends is discussed.
